This March, Miss Sherina Balaratnam took to the stage at the ACE Conference in London – presenting at the Innovation Forum on Exomind, joining the Women in Leadership panel, and sitting down as a mentor for the next generation of aesthetic practitioners.
The ACE Conference at the Business Design Centre, London, is one of the UK’s most respected gatherings for aesthetic medicine professionals. Each year it brings together clinicians, innovators, and leaders from across the specialty. This year, Miss Balaratnam was not simply attending – she was contributing at the heart of it.
EXOMIND at the Innovation Forum: Where Science Meets the Soul
Presenting alongside Dr Raul Cetto at the ACE Innovation Forum, Miss Balaratnam delivered a session on EXOMIND and the future of mental wellness – a subject she describes as genuinely close to her heart. The session brought together clinical data on neuromodulation, real patient outcomes from S-Thetics Clinic, and practical guidance for practitioners looking to integrate this technology into their own practices.
Miss Balaratnam introduced EXOMIND to S-Thetics in December 2024, and the results – in her patients, in her practice, and in herself – have been, in her words, truly profound. The technology works at the level of the brain and broader nervous system, offering a non-invasive approach to mental wellness that bridges the clinical and the deeply human.
Find out why S-Thetics Clinic is acknowledged as the UK’s leading clinic for Exomind treatments here.
“The essence of this sits in a phrase I keep coming back to: where science meets the soul. That intersection is where the most meaningful advances in patient care are happening right now.”
– Miss Sherina Balaratnam, ACE Innovation Forum 2026
Women in Leadership: Opening Doors
Chaired by Alison Willis, CEO of Easyfinders UK and Global, the In Practice Theatre’s Women in Leadership panel brought together some of the most influential female voices in aesthetics. Miss Balaratnam was introduced as a practitioner with over 26 years of medical experience, including seven years in NHS reconstructive plastic surgery and 14 years specialising in aesthetic medicine. She is a Tatler-recognised Top Doctor, co-author of the Oxford Textbook of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and a global key opinion leader for BTL Aesthetics.
The panel addressed one of the most important questions facing the specialty: who opened doors for you, and how are you now opening them for others? Miss Balaratnam spoke candidly on the mentorship she has received over her career, and why she believes formal sponsorship and leadership pathways are as necessary as informal mentoring in creating lasting, structural change.
Meet the Mentor: Mastering Combination Treatments
The third thread of Miss Balaratnam’s ACE week was perhaps the most personally meaningful. As part of the Aesthetics Mentoring at ACE programme, she sat down with practitioners seeking direct access to clinicians who have navigated the same journey. Her session focused on mastering combination treatments – one of the areas where her background in reconstructive surgery and aesthetic medicine converges most naturally.
She has spoken before about the defining role mentorship played in her own training, and the privilege she feels in being able to offer that to others now. These sessions are designed to offer exactly what she once sought: honest, practitioner-to-practitioner guidance at a critical point in someone’s professional development.
What This Means for Our Patients
When Miss Balaratnam presents at conferences like ACE, it is not simply a professional milestone. It reflects the standard of thinking and care that goes into every treatment at S-Thetics Clinic in Beaconsfield. Her involvement in shaping the conversation around mental wellness, leadership, and clinical education means that S-Thetics patients benefit not only from leading-edge treatments, but from a clinician who is actively advancing the field they practise in.
