The Celluma MYSTIQUE delivers three wavelengths at once, each penetrating to a different depth and targeting a different biological mechanism. An integrated scalp arm extends the therapeutic field beyond the face to the hairline and scalp, making combined face-and-hair treatment possible with a single device for the first time at this regulatory standard.
S-Thetics Clinic is the exclusive UK and European launch partner for MYSTIQUE, introduced publicly at Cliveden House, Berkshire, on 20 April 2026. Miss Sherina Balaratnam, Medical Director and Celluma Global Key Opinion Leader, selected MYSTIQUE for UK introduction following rigorous review of the published clinical evidence base. As with every technology at S-Thetics, the criteria were precise: peer-reviewed clinical data, regulatory clearance, and results that patients can measure and sustain.

Treatment Name
Celluma Mystique LED Mask
Treatment Areas
Face and scalp (simultaneous); forehead, cheeks, perioral zone, and hairline
How Does It Work
Three clinically proven wavelengths delivered simultaneously: 465nm blue (acne), 640nm red (collagen, follicle activity), 880nm near-infrared (inflammation, circulation). An integrated scalp arm treats the hairline and scalp in the same session as the face.
Treatment Time
30 minutes per session. Device auto-switches off at session end.
Treatment Target
Reduce fine lines and wrinkles; clear and prevent acne; stimulate hair growth; increase follicle density and strand thickness; support scalp health
Treatment Results
Smoother, firmer skin and clearer complexion with consistent use. For hair: measurable increases in follicle density, strand thickness, and hair count. Skin results visible from 2-4 weeks; optimal hair results develop over 12-16 weeks.
How Many Treatments
Wrinkles: 2-3 sessions per week for 4 weeks. Acne: 2 sessions per week for 8 weeks. Hair: every other day for 12-16 weeks.
Frequency
Continue at-home use as directed. Hair results are best sustained with ongoing every-other-day or 3x weekly sessions after initial protocol completion.
Note
Individual results may vary and are influenced by age, health, lifestyle, and consistency of use. All devices are supplied subject to consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Celluma Mystique LED Mask
1. Does Celluma MYSTIQUE actually work?
Yes – and the answer depends on understanding what “work” means in a clinical context. MYSTIQUE is not a cosmetic device. It is FDA-cleared for three specific indications: skin ageing, acne, and hair restoration. That clearance requires demonstration of both safety and efficacy through clinical testing. The three wavelengths it uses (465nm, 640nm, 880nm) are among the most extensively studied applications of photobiomodulation in peer-reviewed literature.
The mechanism is well-established: specific wavelengths of light are absorbed by mitochondrial chromophores, triggering increased ATP production. Cells with more ATP function better — producing more collagen, clearing waste products more efficiently, responding more robustly to repair signals. The results are not immediate or cosmetic in the conventional sense; they are biological and cumulative. Consistency with the clinical protocol is the principal determinant of outcome.
Miss Balaratnam has been a Celluma practitioner since 2020. Her Masters research at the National Medical Laser Centre, UCL, was in photodynamic therapy – she evaluates these claims from direct academic and clinical experience.
2. Are LED masks worth it?
For the right patient with realistic expectations, yes. The question worth asking is: worth it compared to what? A course of professional LED therapy at a clinic costs significantly more over time than a single at-home device. MYSTIQUE at £795 (offer ends May 31st 2026) is positioned at the premium end of the at-home market, reflecting its FDA clearance, Medical CE Mark, and the clinical-grade photobiomodulation technology it uses.
The value proposition is strongest for patients who are already seeing results from in-clinic treatment at S-Thetics and want to sustain those results between appointments. For hair restoration specifically, MYSTIQUE provides a level of clinical credibility at home that has historically been available only in professional settings – and the hair protocols require 12-16 weeks of consistency, making at-home use the practical option.
3. Are LED masks effective?
Effectiveness varies significantly by device. There are two broad categories: cosmetic-grade LED products, which use low irradiance and lack clinical evidence, and professional-grade devices with FDA clearance and a published evidence base. MYSTIQUE is in the second category. The distinction matters enormously: not all LED devices deliver sufficient energy density to produce measurable biological change. FDA clearance requires clinical testing — it is not a marketing badge.
4. Are LED masks safe?
The three wavelengths used by MYSTIQUE (465nm, 640nm, 880nm) are non-thermal and non-ablative. They do not damage tissue, do not cause burns, and have no downtime. They have been used in clinical settings for decades across dermatology, wound healing, and pain management, and the safety profile is extensively documented. FDA clearance and the Medical CE Mark both require demonstration of safety, not just efficacy.
There are a small number of contraindications: patients with photosensitivity disorders, those taking photosensitising medications, and pregnant patients should seek consultation before use. These are reviewed at your pre-supply consultation at S-Thetics.
5. Is LED mask safe for the eyes?
MYSTIQUE is designed to be worn over the face, and the LED panels sit close to the eye area. The device does not use UV light, and the wavelengths it employs (blue, red, near-infrared) are not associated with retinal damage at the irradiance levels used. However, if you experience any discomfort around the eyes during use, you should close your eyes for the session duration. Patients with pre-existing eye conditions should confirm suitability with their ophthalmologist before use.
Miss Balaratnam reviews any relevant ocular history at consultation.
6. Can LED masks cause skin cancer?
No. Photobiomodulation uses visible light and near-infrared wavelengths (400-900nm range), not ultraviolet radiation. UV radiation (UVA and UVB) is the form of light associated with DNA damage and skin cancer risk. MYSTIQUE emits no UV light. LED light therapy at the wavelengths and irradiance levels used in cleared devices has not been shown to carry any carcinogenic risk in the clinical literature.
7. Can I use Celluma MYSTIQUE during pregnancy?
Pregnancy is listed as a precaution for photobiomodulation devices, not because there is evidence of harm, but because there are no clinical studies in pregnant populations and therefore no established safety data. As a precautionary measure, we recommend deferring MYSTIQUE use until after pregnancy and breastfeeding, and discussing this at your consultation. This is standard practice for most non-essential aesthetic devices during pregnancy.
8. Should I use LED mask before or after skincare?
Yes, but with timing awareness. Retinoids are photosensitising agents: applying a retinol or tretinoin and immediately following with any light exposure — LED included — can cause irritation. Use them at separate times: MYSTIQUE first on clean skin, then your retinoid after the session has finished, or on alternate evenings. At low retinoid concentrations and with appropriate scheduling, this combination is generally well-tolerated. If in doubt, discuss with the S-Thetics team at your consultation.
9. How often should I use Celluma MYSTIQUE?
This depends on your treatment mode. For wrinkles: 2-3 sessions per week. For acne: 2 sessions per week. For hair restoration: every other day for a minimum of 12 weeks. For combined modes (Wrinkles + Hair or Acne + Hair), follow the hair schedule, as this is the longer protocol. Your specific protocol is agreed at your pre-supply consultation.
